CSACI Food Allergy Educator Program
The Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (CSACI) is proud to announce the launch of the CSACI Food Allergy Educator Program, or CFAE.
This program is designed for allied health professionals who have a professional interest in food allergy.
Small group teaching will provide opportunity for learner-learner interactions, discussion and collaboration, in a virtual environment with world-leading experts.
The program includes two courses:
Foundational Course
An 8-week course on topics identified for the course “Foundations in Food Allergy” were identified during the Allied Health Workshop at the 2021 CSACI Annual Meeting. The course has a maximum capacity of 50 participants per term, and will be offered 2 terms per year (Spring & Fall).
Registration will be first come, first serve, with a waiting list maintained. Participants will be required to complete pre- and post-tests, as well as any homework assigned by expert speakers.
CFAE Advanced Practice Course
The CFAE Advanced Practice Course is a 12-week program open to allergy professionals across Canada who have completed the CFAE Foundational Course. Delivered in a virtual format, the course combines asynchronous lecture content with live, synchronous panel discussions held every two weeks.
Admission is competitive, with enrolment capped at 20 participants per cohort. The course is offered once annually, each Spring.
Topics covered include:
- Oral and sublingual immunotherapy
- Multiple and emerging food allergies
- Eosinophilic esophagitis
- Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES)
- Food allergy management and treatment
- Adult-onset food allergies
- Virtual healthcare delivery
- Considerations for rural, remote, and underserved communities
Eligibility requirements:
To apply, applicants must:
- Have successfully completed the CFAE Foundational Course
- Be a healthcare professional working in allergy in Canada
