EDUCATION
CSACI Education Mission
To provide timely, accessible, and innovative educational approaches. To engage with and to meet the diverse learning needs of CSACI members, trainees, health care professionals and communities.
Education Supporting Goals
- Develop a repository of accredited allergy/immunology education offerings
- Create a network of community-based allergy/immunology preceptors
- Innovate our educational offerings: Podcasts & accredited international content
- Develop communities of practice
- Facilitate knowledge translation of guidelines, position statements, patient education materials
- Collaborative Educational activities with other specialties
- Increase external program accreditations
- Implement cultural safety training module for members
RESEARCH
CSACI Research Mission
To support research and knowledge translation that will improve patient care
Research Supporting Goals
- Build infrastructure to promote research through the CSACI: identify CSACI Members to supervise students, build research database and create research community within the CSACI.
- Develop financial supports to offset APCs (journal) via peer-review credits and publisher engagement to decrease APCs
- Identify knowledge gaps through patient engagement
- Liaise with CIHR to develop an allergy-focused call / special projects / allergy representation on review panels and funding opportunities
ADVOCACY
CSACI Advocacy Mission
To advocate for our patients and their caregivers by engaging with individuals and organizations outside our own in order to ensure equitable and timely access to safe, effective, efficient and patient-centered care in allergy, asthma and immunology.
Advocacy Supporting Goals
- Engage with members to nurture CSACI opinion leaders
- Engage with provincial clinical immunology and allergy bodies
- Engage with other national medical subspecialty bodies on common projects
- Improve CSACI visibility and recognition by the public, governments and other organizations as the “go to” experts for questions relating to allergy and immunology
- Improve CSACI recognition internationally as a standard-defining organization, through the timely publication of scientifically rigorous guidelines and resources on relevant topics
ORGANIZATIONAL EXCELLENCE
CSACI Organizational Excellence Mission
To provide organizational leadership with transparency of structure, decision making processes and paths to advancement with a key focus on engagement and sponsorship of underrepresented individuals/groups within the CSACI
Organizational Excellence Supporting Goals
- Capture baseline data while maintaining anonymity
- Multi-pronged approach to needs assessment with membership; consider a survey, ASM, individual interest groups or ARISE, focus groups, town hall meetings
- Clear terms of reference and organization structure chart that would include term duration, clearly outlined divisions of labour, nominating process, EDI application throughout
- Long-term tracking of metrics including meeting participants, membership, graduates / geographic distribution
